Vertical Villette:

a Contemporary Response to The Green Archipelago

The premise of the design exercise for this project was to use Oswald M. Unger’s “The city in the City, Berlin: a green archipelago” as a theoretical and practical framework. HavingMedellin, Colombia, as a tropical and contemporary context, the premise also required the project to be a mixed use building ready to work as an archipelago of new “built islands” of ambiguous,  contradictory and diverse programs.

Finally, along with the Unger’s urban framework, the project asked: What would OMA’s Parc de la Villette look like if its programming was organized  vertically once again?  The result is a vertically organized, tropical city, within the city of  Medellin, Colombia
